The LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio set is a pretty amazing construction set of gangly limbs, an ominous pair of snapping snippers and there is definitely a sting in the tail to be wary of. Find out more with our LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio review.

The LEGO Hero Factory set of construction sets aren’t like your normal array of LEGO building blocks. Instead of the usual bricks we have interlocking ball and socket joints that uses the same technology used in the older Technic sets, much like we saw in the mighty Bionicles sets, which LEGO Factory pretty much replaces.

In fact, the premise of Hero factory is much the same, with some pretty amazing robots out to save the universe from a range of horrors and villains. As you may have guessed, the LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio set is one of the bad guys and manages to deliver the right balance of fun and menace!

The look of LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio is great with heavy armour plates over its long gangly legs and body and as we mentioned, there is even a sting in the tail in the form of a tail shooter that fires out a ball at the Hero Factory heroes. The set only comes with one ball in the box, so you need to keep an eye on it as we found it was prone to go flying under the furniture, a lot!

A nice tip when building LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio is to keep everything as flat as possible while you’re building it. The temptation is to shape it into the place immediately but apart from the tail, which you’ll find is forced to curve from the get-go, you and the kids will find it easy to build when flat, only shaping the legs once all the parts are fitted.

Once built, the LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio stands a pretty impressive 33cm in lengthy and makes for a pretty imposing enemy. It’s worth pointing out that the LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio is best suited for kids between 9 and 16 years, as recommended on the box. This is because actually building the set, while not difficult, can be a little tricky. The hardest part is getting the frame to fit and sit in the right way.

Luckily, LEGO is up to snuff with its instruction manual,  giving you a blow-by-blow account of how each piece needs to fit together and even in which direction. This makes getting the frame easy to erect but kids may well need a helping hand.

Verdict: LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio is a great action construction set but it’s hardly likely to be your first introduction to the set, after all you’ll need one of the good guys to fight it. However, it’s a great design at a good value price and certainly makes a nice addition to any Hero Factory fans collection.

The LEGO Hero Factory Scorpio (2236) costs £17.99 (inc. VAT) and you can find out more over at LEGO
